As convincing a 1-0 win as you are likely to see. If you can thrash a team 1-0 then we did! Their best player was the post that we managed to hit at least four of five times!
Hatton did have some skillful players who caused us some problems but our solid defence snuffed out any chances. The Hatton manager was particularly impressed with Oliver F who was tigerish in the tackle and was fast enough to recover and get back when he needed to.
Right from the start we were on the attack with Edward causing problems at the front with some impressive running at the Hatton defence. Bill was up and down the middle, skipping over challenges and winning us free kicks, Theo showed some silky skills down the wing, then getting the ball across the middle and Ben was like a whippet after the ball when it came near him.
It was Eddie who broke the deadlock with another long striding break away from the Hatton defence into the clear before slotting home with his weaker left foot. He came close to repeating the performance in the second half when he was put clear by some great passing football from Bill then a killer, defence splitting pass from Sean only for the keeper to block the powerful shot.
George was timing his interceptions at the back and getting some great distance on some of his clearances while Dom did all that was asked of him to keep his first clean sheet of the season!
1-0 was enough to take us into the last eight of the cup - the quarter finals!
MOM: Oliver Robinson came on to play in an unfamiliar position and did a great job in tracking back but was often one of the first to come out and close down their players and drive us forward with some lovely passes.
Goal: Edward
