With only 10 men we were always going to be up against it. We decided to play with 2 up front and 3 in midfield and 4 at the back.
The game started and we were soon under pressure in midfield but with Mitch, Will, and Waggo giving their all and chasing everything, Fewtch and Cal defending from the front and the back 4 being held together by Kiddo, with James, George M and George G coping easily with the fast paced forwards of Heather. We managed to create chances and deservedly took a 1-0 lead in to half time (without Coley having to make a save.) when Cal fired home a close range shot after a knock down by Will.
The second half was a mirror image of the first until a Heather corner made it 1-1 from a free header. The lads kept battling but were obviously tiring when Coley made his first save of the game only for the ball to go out to the wing for a cross to come in and another free header made it 1-2. with 8 minutes to go a free kick from Kiddo from the half way line played into the area was miss judged by all, tipped onto the bar by the keeper with Cal following up to head in the rebound 2-2.Thanks to Coley making a fantastic save in the final minute we managed to get the draw.
A fantastic display by the lads today a game we could have won and probably deserved to as we had more chances. Man of the match was a difficult choice because none of the players could have done any better than they did. Decided to award it to Cal, his holding up of the ball, chasing down their midfield meant that we weren't always on the back foot.
The only downside today was the fact we had to play with 10 men! Not being told that players are not available is unexceptable!!!!
